Asylum at AHS
The purpose of this website is to learn and educate our peers on what it means to be a refugee seeking asylum. We focused on the current conflict surrounding their struggle depicted on social media and in the news. As a class, we examined the refugee experience through data and art, got feedback from our community, and explored how this global issue directly affects members of our Antioch family.

-Maya Angelou
Meet the Team"Executing this project has been one of the highlights of my teaching this year! I planned 'Asylum' last summer as a part of my English III curriculum for the 2016-2017 school year. The entire course for my students is one PBL entitled a 'Masterclass in the World' studying global culture and conflict. It is built around the quote you see above and this website is our third quarter assessment, a case study in analyzing global conflict. The standards addressed in the project range from reading informational text to writing standards and the assignments embedded within each part of this site have proven to be rigorous applications of our course themes and content. I am excited and humbled to share my students' work, may you find it as inspiring as I do!"
